This page covers the two brand-name medications only: Wegovy® (semaglutide), made by Novo Nordisk, and Zepbound® (tirzepatide), made by Eli Lilly. Both are FDA-approved brand-name medications for chronic weight management in adults. Made Ya Skinny is a medical clinic, not a pharmacy. A licensed provider evaluates you and, if it is appropriate, writes the prescription. You get the medication itself directly from the manufacturer, which bills you for it.

What is Wegovy®?

Wegovy® is the brand name for semaglutide, made by Novo Nordisk. It is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which means it works on one receptor pathway, GLP-1. It is taken as a once-weekly injection.

Per its FDA-approved labeling, Wegovy is indicated for chronic weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or greater, or a BMI of 27 or greater with at least one weight-related condition, together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Dosing on the FDA label starts at 0.25 mg once a week and steps up about every 4 weeks (0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg) to a maintenance dose of 2.4 mg once a week, or 1.7 mg for some patients. Your provider sets your schedule and can hold a step if a dose is not tolerated.

What is Zepbound®?

Zepbound® is the brand name for tirzepatide, made by Eli Lilly. It is a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist, which means it works on two receptor pathways instead of one. It is also a once-weekly injection.

Per its FDA-approved labeling, Zepbound is indicated for chronic weight management in adults with the same BMI criteria: 30 or greater, or 27 or greater with at least one weight-related condition, together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Dosing on the FDA label starts at 2.5 mg once a week for 4 weeks, then 5 mg. The dose may go up in 2.5 mg steps after at least 4 weeks on the current dose. Maintenance doses are 5 mg, 10 mg or 15 mg, and 15 mg is the maximum. The 2.5 mg starting dose is for getting started only and is not a maintenance dose.

How Wegovy® and Zepbound® differ

• Active drug. Wegovy is semaglutide. Zepbound is tirzepatide.
• Maker. Wegovy is made by Novo Nordisk. Zepbound is made by Eli Lilly.
• How it works. Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor. Tirzepatide acts on both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, two pathways instead of one. That is a difference in mechanism, not a promise that one works better for you.
• FDA status. Both are FDA-approved brand-name medications for chronic weight management in adults, on the label criteria above.
• Dose steps. Wegovy steps up from 0.25 mg to a 2.4 mg maintenance dose. Zepbound steps up from 2.5 mg to a 5 mg, 10 mg or 15 mg maintenance dose. Under both labels, a step up happens no faster than every 4 weeks.
• Where the medication comes from. Your prescription for either one is filled through the manufacturer, which bills you directly. Made Ya Skinny does not stock, sell or ship brand-name medication.

Neither one is right for everyone. Which one your provider prescribes, if either, depends on your health history, what you have already tried, how you tolerate side effects and what your follow-up visits show. That is a clinical decision, not a menu choice.

Steps to get a brand-name prescription

Step 1: Complete the online prescreen

It asks about your height, weight, health history and current medications. It costs nothing and does not commit you to anything.

Step 2: Meet with a licensed provider

Typically within 60 seconds of your request between 8 am and 9 pm CST. Your provider reviews your prescreen, history and labs and decides whether Wegovy or Zepbound is appropriate for you. Step 3: Your prescription goes to the manufacturer

If it is appropriate, your provider writes the prescription and we assist you with getting your medication directly from the manufacturer, Novo Nordisk for Wegovy or Eli Lilly for Zepbound. The manufacturer sets the medication price and bills you for it. Nothing is shipped by our clinic and there is no pre-paid kit.

Step 4: Refill visits every 4 weeks

Made Ya Skinny provides consultation, clinical evaluation, and prescription management only. The $17 fee applies only to a standalone in-person or virtual provider appointment. It does not apply to a telehealth purchase or other transaction, and no separate consultation fee is added when a purchase has already been made. Payment does not guarantee a prescription.
